Everything
most people ask.
These answers are written for the public website. Product behavior can still vary by plan, installed version, and local hardware.
No for local dictation. Download, install, press your hotkey. An account is only needed for Pro, settings sync, or the optional free built-in AI modes preview.
Not for local dictation. Whisper runs locally on your machine. Cloud models are opt-in — Pro BYOK cloud transcription uses your own provider keys. FluxType AI formatting sends transcribed text, not audio, to our metered AI endpoint.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 on Intel or AMD x64 PCs.
The Free plan supports English. Pro adds the full 100-language local model set. Cloud models via OpenAI, Gemini, or Deepgram BYOK keys are available for cloud transcription. Translation uses local models.
FluxType offers local models and cloud models for higher-accuracy online workflows. Cloud models are accessed through BYOK provider keys (OpenAI, Gemini, Deepgram). Deepgram reports 5.26% median word error rate for Nova-3 batch transcription, which converts to 94%+ word recognition. Real-world accuracy depends on microphone quality, accent, language, background noise, vocabulary, hardware, and selected model.
Pro is $6.99 per month, or $59.88 per year when billed annually ($4.99 per month). Tax is added at checkout based on your billing location.
Pro includes a monthly hosted AI allowance with percentage-based usage visibility in account settings. Local raw dictation stays unlimited, and BYOK AI can be used separately with your own provider account.
Yes. The default is Ctrl+Shift+Z, but you can remap dictation shortcuts from settings.
Pro is a monthly or annual subscription. You can cancel any time from your account dashboard. After cancellation, local models keep working on the Free plan.
Yes. FluxType types into standard text fields across desktop and browser apps, including Word, Google Docs, Slack, Notion, Outlook, Chrome, Edge, and VS Code.
Local dictation is designed for privacy-sensitive workflows because audio is processed on your device. You are still responsible for your device security, recording consent, and reviewing outputs before using them in high-stakes contexts.
Local dictation continues to work offline after the app and local model are installed. Account, billing, hosted AI, cloud transcription, and model download features need an internet connection.
FluxType is focused on live dictation into apps. If file upload transcription is added later, it should be documented separately with clear privacy and provider-processing details.
Yes. Pro supports bring-your-own-key provider integrations. Connect your OpenAI, Gemini, or Deepgram account to use cloud models through your own keys. BYOK usage is billed by your provider and is separate from FluxType-hosted AI allowances.
FluxType is Windows-first today. Join the Mac and Linux waitlist and we will email you when those builds are ready.
